I used to live in Riverside. Come towards riverside, and take Hwy. 395 towards San Diego. When you get to the Pala exit, You're getting close. I can't remember the exact directions. Haven't been there since 95. You'll have to ask directions in Pala. Hope this helps. Have you tried the agate and jasper digs along old Rt. 66 ? tons of beautiful material in the desert.Don Do you find this valuable? |

I just did a Google search for the Cryo- Genie. It's not where I thought it was. You can find maps to the mine on Google.Don Do you find this valuable? |

"thanks for the effort. The road from Palm Springs to Warner Hot Springs, near where the Cryo-Genie is located, used to be a very narrow and rough winding road. Good luck when you get there, and post some pics of your finds. Don Do you find this valuable? |

It will show bunches of places to look for rocks, minerals and gems. Many are only an hour or so from Palm Springs. One I used to like is Lavic Siding. Some of the nicest jasper in California comes from there. A plus is that you're only a mile from the 29 Palms Marine gunnery range. If you hit it on a good day, you can sit and watch jets pound targets on the desert floor. Don Do you find this valuable? |

"can sombody tell me how long it would take to get to the cryo-mine from palm springs.and of the thee tormaline mines on this web site which one would would you suggest for a day"Hey dynamojoe86 there is a tourmaline thread you may want to read. According to the thread the cryo-genie is closed. However there is discussion about what other mines are good to go to. This link is to page 10 of the thread, which is the newest posts that discuss the mines. http://cash-and-treasures-wiki.travelchannel.com/thread/1074913/Oh+I+want+to+go+hunt+tourmaline...?offset=180&maxResults=20 Go down about half way to find the newest posts. Hope this helps. And which ever mine you go to have fun and good luck. And of course we want pics and a trip story too. :-) Paul Do you find this valuable? |

"can sombody tell me how long it would take to get to the cryo-mine from palm springs.and of the thee tormaline mines on this web site which one would would you suggest for a day"The Cryo-Genie Mine is near the Warner Springs airport where they do great sail plane flights. It is off of Highway 79, which intersects with I-15 in Temecula. It is a winding 2 lane road from Temecula. I have heard that the Cryo-Genie is closed now. The other two fee mines are both off of Highway 76, which intersects I-15 in Pala. I was at both early in June. The Oceanview (see www.digforgems.com ) is onyl about 10 miles east of I-15. In the group of 60 real rockhounds, several found very nice tourmaline, spodumene and aquamarine, a lot found nice quartz points and I found a very nice bi-colored beryl (aquamarine and morganite) specimen quality - not facet grade. They hit a new pocket the day we were there! The Himalaya Dig (it is in a campground/ not on mine property) is near Lake Henshaw (where Highway 76 and Hoghway 79 intersect). Several people found tourmaline that day also. Both the Oceanview and the Himalaya are an enjoyable way to get a real workout - hauling buckets of tailings to the tables for screening and rinsing. Both provide all the equipment you need. My current favorite is the Oceanview - partly for the nice clean flush toilets and shaded area for lunches. Ellen Do you find this valuable? |

I moved from California in 96. I sure hope they've improved the road to Warner Springs. Or at least filled the pot holes. That 2 lane road was a rough ride back then.Don Do you find this valuable? |

Well at least you didn't get skunked. Little tourmaline's are better than no tourmaline's. Hope they improved the roads out to Warner Springs. That used to be one rough ride.Don Do you find this valuable? |

Man, bummer about the computer crash. Sounds like a good trip was had by all. You'll get some bigger stuff next time. That tourmaline sure is purdy though. :-) Looking forward to those pics. Paul Do you find this valuable? |
