Looking for friends in North West Georgia

I am new to this I am intrested in rock and mineral collecting, really any kind of treasure hunting intrest me. I am from North West Georgia and would like to find enthusiest in my area to help me learn and to share my intrest with. Do you find this valuable?

Welcome aboard Gina. While I'm not from your area, I'm always happy to help someone new to our hobby. We have a few members from the Carolinas, and areas around there. You might want to go to the blue box next to your picture, and click on National Directory, and then on some of the areas around you. I was stationed with the Navy at Kings Bay, in the south east of your state. I used to find lots of petrified shark teeth in that area, but really didn't have enough time for any serious rock hounding.

Thank you for your help.. Small world my oldest boy is in the Navy stationed in Jacksonville Flordia. Do you find this valuable?

I hope your boy doesn't plan on doing the full 20 years like I did. Don't know if I would do it again. I hope you can find some friends in your area. Feel free to jump into the middle of any of our conversations on here. We're a friendly bunch of guys and gals.

MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO LOOK INTO THE LOCAL ROCK CLUBS. THEY ARE FULL OF PEOPLE THAT KNOW THE AREA THEY ARE LOCATED IN. MOST ARE VERY WILLING TO HELP THE NEW MEMBERS LEARN THE ROCK HOBBY. HOPE YOU FILL IN YOUR PROFILE AND SEND PIC'S

Welcome again on here, I also am a ole Navy guy (not quite as old as Don) you'll find lots of good info on here about anything, even rock hounding. DB Do you find this valuable?

Good morning Gina. Just thought I'd get your thread going early this morning, so people don't forget about it. I'll do all I can to find you some friends over there on the east side of the country. Why don't you look at the blue box beside your picture again. Click on the Educational guides, and read the first two on the list. They will give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into by becoming a rockhound. Of course, being a little bit crazy doesn't hurt either. Happy rockin.
