How To Find Jade Deposits

Been out and about - but anyway, the GemHunter's newsletter on Jade deposits is now available (<http://GemHunter.webs.com>). Describes how to identify jade and what to look for.

3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

Hi Don,
How are you doing? Sounds like you are enjoying your computer (yes I hate them too - I think they are part of a government conspiracy, alien conspiracy, or something to like that). Anyway, I would be honored to sign you up for my newsletters - you can send me your email address at diamondprospector@live.com.

Great artical Dan. For those interested here is an artical with lots of information on the various compositions of the "halos" associated with jade....I have called them all Rodingite, however proper that might be.

http://books.google.com/books?id=IaRYyl6NypwC&pg=PA222&lpg=PA222&dq=nephrite+rodingite&source=bl&ots=peDltHgE1o&sig=WUPMevkO4gAwEOI8rAx-S9RUzA4&hl=en&ei=h5YMSu6KOaTosgPA0LAJ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10#v=onepage&q=nephrite%20rodingite&f=false

I'd love to see some close up shots of the halos in Wyoming. Bleached granite-gniess? Is that a way of saying it has been metasomatically altered by Ca rich fluids...that is into a rodingite (calcium aluminum silicate)? Or is that alteration abscent in those halos?

Aaron, if you read that book link above, you'll notice they mention listwanite as a possible jade forming alteration similar to the other "halos"...deposits in Canada are associated with low quality jade.

Hi Zeke,
Yes, there is definite metasomatic alteration and evidence of Ca- and K- rich fluids. Epidote is common and calcium rich and the granite gneiss is partially replaced by Ca-rich plagioclase and K-rich sericite.
