"Well some time back we all were talking about how to build a light box, and you at least i thought it was you, show some picture useing a light box and made it look like the rock was floting in air, so i have starting to play with the box and glass bottom to see if i can make my photo come out better,

skeeter"
Hey Skeeter, go to the educational guides section. At the bottom of the first page you'll find photo tips and tricks. On that page you'll find 3 different links to lite boxes. I think you'll find what you want to know there.

You're lucky you can put pics on here. My computer is all messed up. I can't even send pics to a folder in my photo editing program.

I had purchased a gorgeous ring on ebay--oregon sunstone, in a honey colour, with all the little sparklies in it; in otherwards, not clear. I got it here at home and it had a crack in it that happened during the shipping (cold, hot, cold, hot) Fortunately, no questions asked returns. I haven't been able to find as beautiful a ring again, tho.
nan
ps, my dream ring is a 18 kt setting, a greenstone which I think is only found now in small pieces on the Keeneewah (sorry Michigan, I know that's not the spelling) peninsula on the UP of Michigan. I saw one, $189. I'm a poor girl, that's too expensive. My goodness, a girl can dream, huh?

SecreteNinia I looked at your profile and you are the resident expect on the Oregon coast. You should jump in here and share some sites, Not your top secrete sites but good ones. We need to make sure Skeeter comes back loaded,

Hey Skeeter. That's a purdy one for sure. Post another pic when you get it all polished up.

Very nice T egg. The color is great. Blue is not the most common color in agates. It has the classic T egg star with what looks like parallel banding. Richardson Ranch has some of the best collecting T eggs, agate and jasper in the west.

Hey Bill, thanks for posting those Richardson Ranch plume pics. I have some that was included in an old collection that I inherited. Now I have a pretty good idea where they came from. That's some beautiful plume, and it takes a great polish.

Resident expert? I'm blushing. Thank you.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I was at the oregon coast collecting pyrite and augite! All of the beaches were sanded in so "freed" translucent chalcedony blebs were not in season a.k.a. beach agates, I did find one however. :)

The Cedar Buttes Augite location is fun of you have a high clearance vehicle which like to stick to sloppy roads.

There is pyrite in the sandstones and clays which comprise Otter Crest (you have to break open a lot of boulders as there should not be any digging in the cliffs (I did however discover a "fresh" area this weekend where the pyrite had not oxidized yet and was able to "pop" out a few nice pieces of pyrite with no digging, just popping) and there are excellent fossils out of Cape Meares (I have seen some crystalization on some of the shells coming out of here) and Newport (Beverly, Moolack Beach, Glenenden and further south).

Thanks for the ego stroke Bill ;) I am happy to be of help to anyone wanting to know more about the Oregon coast. :)

Thank you for your information. I enjoy all your posts and I love collecting in Oregon. I was talking with Isami Tsubota's son. He is planning on opening his father's famous Biggs Quarry. If you hear if it open now let me know. Biggs is great jasper.
