Rock and Gem Magazine Article
Oct 23 2009, 4:12 PM EDT
I have contacted by managing editor of Rock and Gem Magazine to submit an article for their March issue. It will be in furtherance of our first objective in the mission statement. I hope to interview the policy folk for all of the constituents as well as the boots on the ground. And I want to convey the passion that true rockhounds have for the environment. So you can contribute here. Opinions, attitudes, experiences and photos are all welcome. I wont use any pics without permission and will give credit. Pictures of good stewardship and bad stewardship will be used. Looks like I will go out to see just exactly what has been going on. And I would like to see pictues the georgeous specimens and the art that you create from this carnelian gem belt . Not sure if I will use them, just a little perk to keep me motivated... looks like I won't get to the foredom for a couple of months. And for the stories you would like to relate privately or in person, send me a message and we will make arrangements to talk or meet. Do you find this valuable?

It would appear that the folks at R & G are keeping an eye on our wiki, and the discussions ongoing about improving our relationship with land owners and the federal government who oversees vast tracts of land. Having R & G on board will be a great help to all of us. Makes me wish that I lived in Washington State, so I could contribute my time and labor. Good luck with the article, and I hope everyone living out there will cooperate with you.Don Do you find this valuable? |

I've been itching to use my new camera, but I'm all the way up here in Bellingham:-( I guess I'll try to make it down that way next month if no one else snaps some good shots first. I fixed my phone and left a message with Lynn, but I think you got it covered....better than I could. ~Zeke Do you find this valuable? |

It sounds like a great article with the creeks restoration project going on. In my conversation with her ;she is going to publish another Green issue. Good luck Zeke. You will do a great job. Yes the March issue will be the green issue. i was very impressed with her perspective. This magazine in an asset to the community. Several people have asked how they can contribute to this effort when they live so far away, or are not physically able to join a restoration brigade. Subscribe to Rock and Gem Magazine. I fixed my phone and left a message with Lynn, but I think you got it covered....better than I could.Aha. You are now staff photographer. That will teach you to speak up. I have sent out a few emails and made a few phone calls to reconnect with my old cohorts in fisheries. I am past president of Pacific Fisheries Biologists and what they call a mossback in the fraternity. I will call state fish folk on Monday and see if they would walk through Lucas Creek with me. I will call Weyerhauser folk as well. A field trip with those who can speak to policy and pragmatics would provide a focus point and forum for a concensus of thinking. Lucas Creek could be used as a specific example to illustrate policy and practices. A proper inauguration of your new camera as well. So wish me luck. There can be a lot of politics and rivalry that stand in the way. That can put this out of the comfort zone of some players, so stand alone interviews may have to suffice. Do you find this valuable? |
