1. RE: Largest Gold Nugget ever found in the Cascades of Washington State?
Dec 4 2009, 1:52 PM EST
"Anybody here know the largest Gold Nugget ever found in the Cascades of Washington State? and the location would be cool too;) Tehe. There's a persistent rumor of a 45 lb nugget found in dredge spoils along Swauk Creek. The old dredges would have kicked anything larger than hand size out of the grizzly. Andy Bemish, who used to have the rock shop at Liberty, said it was true. Of course, Liberty is not exactly the Cascades. I've seen a half ounce nugget from a claim in the Silver Star area, south Cascades. Dirty gold down there, coated with black sulfides. Dirty gold is fine by me, lol. Bob 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Though, I would rather find one of them nuggets that went over the screens and was over looked during operation. Stuff that large, one wouldn't need a pan to find. lol I have seen and held some very nice Liberty area nuggets in the past. Talk about drooling! lol I'll bet those mines are running full swing right now with the price of gold the way it is now. Paul 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Of course the ole wire gold chunk out of the "Ace of Diamond" mine was like over a 100 lbs. DB 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think Bob (rockcandyguy) mentioned that over 20 millions ounces has come from around that area. If I have my locations correct. Paul Do you find this valuable? |

"lol :) that would be cool working in a mine. did you find a good amount of gold there? "I personally didn't get any gold but the company did. It was a hard rock underground mine running around 1500 tons per day. I worked in the mill. We ran about 10 years and produced around 1.25 million ounces. I guess that is a fair amount of gold. lol We mined out the ore body and had to shut down. It was an absolutely great company to work for and with greatest people to work with. I left scratch marks as they pulled me off the job. lol I would say that it was the best 12 and a half years of my career. Paul 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

She can tease you and the day up or tease you and the open the doors to a whole ore body. 10 years wasn't a bad run. My finger nails haven't been the same since that day. lol Paul 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Paul, i had no idea you were in the mining industry....i bet it is on your profile, which i bet i haven't read. What did you do for the company?Well I did just about everything it seemed. Started out as a draftsman/surveyor, then to construction inspection above and underground. I ended up in the maintenance dept. as a planner and supervisor in the mill. Yeah there is a little bit on my profile. ;-) Paul 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Thanks for the info Lasmanis. I wouldn't have thought that the best collection wouldn't be elsewhere but some place around the mine. Also welcome to the wiki. I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us do. Please share your experiences and post of pics of your finds. Paul 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
